Counselling

“Rekindle has helped me get through one of the toughest battles I have ever faced - their support and conversations didn’t just show me a better path but allowed me to see it was there the whole time."

Counselling provides a space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings with a trusted person. Any issues are discussed confidentially and your counsellor, with your help, will experience life as it is through your eyes. We’ll help you explore your world, beliefs, and feelings, developing your self-awareness and independence. Counselling is person-centred, meaning the sessions are guided by you, giving you the power to talk about the things you want to. The aim of person-centred counselling is to fulfil your potential and recognise what you are capable of.

For someone who may be feeling worthless, empty or hopeless counselling works to explore these feelings and break through unhelpful beliefs and negative self-talk. Our sessions begin with talking but often include a range of expression including laughter, anger and crying. We might sometimes offer techniques involving art materials, journalling or mindfulness to support you to get the most out of your session.

Our counsellors promise that:

  • We will always be open and honest

  • The time in the session will be yours, to use as you need to

  • Our session will be focussed solely on you, with no distractions

  • We will listen to you, not interrupt and let you lead your session

  • We will sometimes check-in to confirm that we have understood, sometimes repeating what we have heard

  • We won’t judge you, where you have come from or what you want to talk about

  • We won’t pressure you to talk about you childhood or past

  • We won’t set homework (unless you ask us to!)

  • We won’t tell you what to do
