Our
Story
Rekindle is a young person’s mental health charity, supporting those aged 16-25 years old. We are based in Newtown and support people living across Mid Wales and the Shropshire borders, offering remote sessions when transportation is a barrier.

Rekindle was founded in 1997 by a group of people who had all experienced mental health problems within their own families.
Our vision, mission and values were all written in collaboration with our clients:
-
Vision: To ensure that all young people have ready access to good mental health support.
-
Mission: To make a positive difference to the mental health of 16 to 25-year-olds: to build resilience and to enable them to lead healthy lives. In 2002, Rekindle initiated the Small Steps pilot project, funded by Comic Relief, aimed specifically at supporting young people aged 16 to 25. This demographic was identified as particularly vulnerable to suicide and other mental health related challenges.
Despite the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic, the charity persisted in its mission. In 2022/2023, some of our longstanding trustees stepped down and new members joined the Board of Trustees. During this transition, the Board appointed a Service Delivery Manager to oversee operations, expand services, and strategise for the future.
By the close of 2023, Rekindle relocated to new premises, expanding therapy and consultation space from one room to three. Additionally, the new facility includes communal areas for client interaction, relaxation, and participation in the activities program, along with outdoor spaces to be enjoyed by our community of clients, friends, families and staff.
